Project Objective:

The objective of the Project was to assist the Government in enabling the population living in its rural areas to benefit from year-round access to basic services and facilities, through the rehabilitation and maintenance of rural access infrastructure under the National Rural Access Program

Program Summary

RESUTLS

  • 57% Reduction in travel time of beneficiaries living along the improved road to the first available school, health care facility and administrative services;
  • 30% Increase in the number of trips taken by beneficiaries living along the improved road to first available schools, health care facilities as well as administrative services;
  • Price of price of key consumption and production commodities at beneficiary villages and in the nearest town: 8% for what grain, 9% for wheat flour, 7.5% for kerosene;
  • After project completion, 58% of villagers living along the improved roads diversified income sources to off farm activities;
  • 62% of population lives in a community which lies within 2 km of an all-season road.
